Starting at a young age, women are familiar with the symptoms of hormonal changes. They are often told “It’s normal” or “It will get better”. Although this advice is not wholly untrue, it can make identifying an imbalance more difficult for a woman. In addition, women often feel tolerating unpleasant symptoms is the only option. We are here to tell you there are safe options to treating those pesky symptoms our hormones love to put us through. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BioHRT) has proven to be an effective treatment for optimizing hormone levels in both men and women.
What is bioidentical?
It means it is the same molecule that your body uses. Many of the risks reported from HRT were related to synthetic, non-bioidentical forms of estrogen which caused havoc in womens’ bodies.
How do I know HRT is right for me?
Our specially trained providers are able to make recommendations based on laboratory blood work, physical exam, and in-person interview. Some symptoms that may indicate you are a candidate include:

No one wants to lose the ability to actively enjoy our lives as we age. Whether it be symptoms of depression, anxiety, fatigue, or joint pain, suboptimal testosterone may be a contributing factor. Research has found with a longer life span, less physically demanding lifestyles, and environmental exposure hormones, our own hormone levels are not remaining adequately high for the lifespan of the average man.
What does low testosterone look like?
- Increased weight gain
- Stress intolerance, anger or temper issues
- Depression
- Inability to maintain muscle mass
- Poor sleep quality
- Decreased libido
- Erectile issues
- Fatigue

Many people are looking for a natural way to decrease pain and promote healing in their bodies. PRP jump starts your body’s natural healing abilities by stimulating healing and cell development in an area of concern. Once you have been seen by our Nurse Practitioner and it has been determined that PRP may be a good option for you, your nurse will draw your blood and spin it down in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The Nurse Practitioner will then use a diagnostic ultrasound to guide the injection exactly to the area needing to be treated. PRP is usually recommended in a 3 dose series.
Prior to each injection the Nurse Practitioner will educate you on preparation for your injection. This may include dietary changes or withholding medications for a specific timeframe. After the injection the Nurse Practitioner will provide you with discharge instruction that includes restrictions and rehabilitation care.

At Align Medical Center we believe in proving the highest level of care possible. That is why we use ultrasound guidance for our joint injections. Evidence shows that ultrasound-guided injections are the superior method for ensuring proper needle placement. Using this technique can mean the difference between treatment and continued pain. Our injections are always done with the clean “no-touch” technique that is common practice for all orthopedic and sports medicine providers.
Our Nurse Practitioner is trained and certified to perform trigger point injections. She will evaluate you for trigger points (pain causing muscle fibers), and then determine which type of injection is most appropriate for you based on your health history and current medications. She then cleans the area and uses a very small needle to inject the trigger point. Relief is usually instant! This therapy is wonderful for acute patients in severe pain, or for patients with chronic tight and painful muscles. Most patients will receive a series of injections based on the providers recommendations.

Many have heard of acupuncture and its benefits. Dry needling applies the same tool to a different school of thought. This therapy has been in use since the 70s’ but only recently gained more traction as the body of research has grown, so has its use in the clinical setting. Dry needling has been shown to assist in neuromuscular reeducation, decrease pain and inflammation, and improve ROM. The most exciting part of this therapy is that the results are often seen immediately!
IV (intravenous) nutrition is a type of therapy commonly used for its health benefits which include immune system boost, detoxifying cells, illness prevention, improving chronic fatigue and more! The result may be faster than those of oral medications or supplements because IV treatment is administered directly into the bloodstream. IV nutritional therapy can be an effective restorative treatment for the body.
Chiropractic Care
Our chiropractor is a hands-on adjustor. She utilizes posture analysis, palpation, and functional movements to determine when and where to adjust. She is proficient at Thompson drop technique, diversified, Webster, and can perform activator adjusting.
Many people come to the chiropractor to help maintain their health and wellness. Regular adjustments have helped many people improve their sleep, decrease musculoskeletal pain, and improve athletic performance. Our patients have the option to come to the clinic for wellness-based family care.
After an accident, receiving proper medical care is vital. At AMC we can help with injuries from car accidents, on the job injuries, or weekend warrior injuries. We have access to x-rays, diagnostic ultrasound, a nurse practitioner, chiropractor and a physical therapist all under the same roof. We offer a variety of non-pharmacologic options to manage pain and facilitate healing. We will work with your attorney and insurance policies to get you the care you need.
Support during this special time is so important. Align Medical Center has a Webster Certified Chiropractor on staff. Webster technique is focused on optimizing pelvic alignment during pregnancy to reduce pain, discomfort, and to optimize uterine function.
Athletics can be hard on the body. Keep moving with chiropractic adjustments to decrease pain and restore proper range of motion. Most professional athletes are under care from a chiropractor because they recognize an improvement in their reaction time, comfort, endurance, performance. In addition to caring for athletes, AMC also performs pre-participation physicals.
Our bodies are designed to move! Functional movement screenings are used to detect areas of imbalance in our bodies. We can discover muscles that are weak, tight, overcompensated or not functioning. We then create a targeted exercise plan to restore healthy movement patterns.
Animals can benefit from chiropractic care too! Dr. Anna Murdoch is a trained and licensed animal chiropractor. She trained at Options for Animals in Wellsville, KS. She has been actively adjusting and caring for canine and equine patients in the area for over 4 years. Animal adjustments can help a geriatric animal maintain mobility and function, help heal from disc injuries and improve athletic performance. Ask how you can schedule a consultation and adjustment with Dr. Anna or the office manager.
Semaglutide Weight Loss Program
We are now offering weekly Semaglutied injections to kickstart your weight loss journey. As a patient, you can expect a supportive and positive environment to assist you in meeting your weight loss goals.
- FDA approved for weight management
- Decreased food cravings
- Works best when partnered with diet and exercise
- Increased insulin sensitivity
- Promotes gastric emptying
- Improved blood sugar levels
- Improves cholesterol
- Reduces inflammation
Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), an incretin hormone that plays a role in your appetite and digestion. Incretins (hormones released by your digestive tract) are sent out by your body after you’ve eaten a meal. They help lower your blood sugar by triggering insulin release and blocking sugar production. They also slow down how quickly food leaves your stomach (called gastric emptying) and this helps prolong satiety and reduces food cravings. The result of these actions causes you to ‘feel full’, lowering your appetite and causing you to lose weight.
WARNING: You should not use semaglutide if you are allergic to it, or if you have: multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2; or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma. Not for use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

Massage
Our massage therapist provides a holistic approach that merges techniques from a wide variety of methods and disciplines known as Integrative Massage or Bodywork Therapy. This is a treatment that involves the integration of different massage modalities including Swedish, Neuromuscular (Deep Tissue), Lymphatic Massage, Trigger Point work, and Shiatsu. It can also include other aspects of physical therapy such as touch therapy and movement therapy. The integrative massage technique is based on the idea that not just one massage is right for every problem. That is why, through using a variety of techniques, every individual problem of the body can be targeted and addressed with its own approach producing optimal results.
Therapies
Your provider may recommend ultrasound therapy as part of your treatment plan. This modality is commonly used to treat tendonitis, bursitis, joint contractures, muscle strains or ligament injuries. The ultrasound works by heating the tissues on the inside to help reduce pain, increase blood flow and elasticity of the muscles or tendons. Ultrasound may be used in conjunction with stretching and active rehabilitative exercises. Read more on the research here.
Electrical stimulation may be used to help reduce pain, decrease trigger points, or improve muscular function. Small electrode pads are placed on the affected area and then a specific type of current is directed into the tissue. TENS (transcutaneous electrical neuromuscular stimulation) can help reduce pain by interrupting pain signals and fatiguing pain fibers in an area. Decreasing trigger points uses an interferential type current to change the firing pattern of an area. Finally, if you are working to regain function of a specific muscle after an injury a NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation) type therapy can be applied to stimulate that muscle to fire appropriately.

Both of these exercises are designed to help reduce pain and improve motion in their respective areas of the spine. Traction therapy helps to improve the health of the disc in the lower back by assisting with the restorative process known as imbibition. This is the pumping movement that helps to push waste out of the disc and pull nutrition and hydration in. Cervical traction performs the same imbibition function but can also assist with restoring the healthy curve in the neck. Both of these exercises are performed in an active manner which assists with neuromuscular rehabilitation. Traction can decrease pain, increase range of motion, and decrease muscle spasms.
Trigger point massage is a focused, short massage designed to help increase the elasticity and mobility of specific muscle groups. A trigger point is an area of tight muscle fibers that may be painful to pressure, may refer to another area of the body or may be so chronic that they actually are painless until accurate pressure is applied. These sessions commonly help reduce neck pain, tension headaches, and tightness in the hips and low back. Read more of the research here.
Stretching, so many times people are given the recommendation to “stretch more!” Many people feel that their stretching at home is ineffective and a waste of time. At Align Medical Center we will help assist you through these motions, helping you achieve greater range of motion, looser muscles and better mobility. Assisted stretching may be static or involve PNF stretching, which involves active participation from the patient and has been shown to be effective for increasing the length of muscle fibers. Read more of the research here.
At Align Medical Center, our goal is to help you regain function. This means that your exercises and treatments need to be specifically designed to treat your areas of weakness. Following your functional movement assessment with your chiropractor or physical therapist, you will be prescribed exercises to help regain function and strengthen your body to get back to the activities you enjoy. At our clinic we strive to make your exercises simple, engaging, and using minimal equipment so you can continue your therapy at home as well as in the clinic.
